Cudi + Rubin would work wonderfully.
Shit, even Rubin would’ve done wonders for Wayne’s Rebirth.
Seriously. At least ask for some supervision from the Beastie Boys. It just makes sense to have a rock producer work with you on your rock album. Since when do you not need a rock producer for a rock record? This sets you up to fail from the start. The only kids that like the record are kids that don’t know music and are rabid fans. And guess what! This has been done before! Rubin does both, and has merged them. So why the hell did you not call up the man! He is one of the few rock AND hip hop producers. And he’s good.
Hip hop: we must do better.

But all I will say right now is, Cudi done goofed. The album really is trash. I’ve listened to all of it, because I’m a big Kid Cudi fan. Not liking this album though.
And kiddies, don’t come at me saying shit like:
“Kid Cudi is a real artist! He can do rock really well!”
“How can you call yourself a Kid Cudi fan if you don’t love everything he does!”
“His songs have such deep meaning! How can you say they are badly written!”
Get your heads out of your asses, people.
And since when did “fan” mean you have to love everything an artist puts out? I got high respect for Cudi and his style. I have actually liked most of what the dude puts out- the man is a good artist and producer no doubt.
But this shit is a miss, kid.

Don't agree with the McCartney > Lennon at all. But my reasoning is not so much that I don't think Paul is a great musician because I KNOW he is. for sheer magnitude of songwriting, emotional pull, and the way he threw himself into his songs as a whole (music/lyrics) Lennon owned. He was a revolutionary and he was bold and powerful in his songs, and I like Paul's songs- especially the love ones and some rockers- but he just doesn't have that same passion. Most of his love songs sound corny.
Excellent point! “Silly Love Songs”? Terribly corny. The list goes on of McCartney tracks that stay in your head for days…
Lennon had that ability to put incredible amounts of emotion and power in such few words. So I feel where you are coming from. I still think McCartney has some passion, though lacking in comparison. I do enjoy McCartney’s songwriting more then Lennon, but this is just preference.
Still hesitant to call Lennon a revolutionary, but he knew he had important things to say, and he made sure he did.

and yes, both are greats who are at their best when together.
but yes, if you are a musician, you have to agree with this.
and if we are speaking technicalities, in musicianship, songwriting skill, production, and range stylistically and vocally, this has to be obvious.
There is a significant “cool factor” to Lennon that no one should ignore- and the man was brilliant. Legend. Craftsman of some of the world’s most beautiful and powerful songs. But as a musician, I have to pull for McCartney, who has such range- and musical style that is a more complex and nuanced than Lennon’s. Lennon was simple, and often alluded to classic rock n roll when songwriting and composing. And it works wonderfully. I just enjoy McCartney’s music more right now.
I was the biggest Lennon > McCartney guy until last year.
But I mean, come on. Its McCartney we’re talking here.
Its like comparing Lennon to McCartney.
